Starting point
The change of IT provider coincided with an office move, and the date was fixed. From the previous provider there was neither a handover nor documentation. Which systems existed, how they fitted together and what credentials there were all had to be worked out from scratch. In the process it became clear that several parts of the environment needed fundamental rework, technically and in terms of security.
Solution
First the inventory: the network was scanned, firewall, switches, storage and access analysed and written down in documentation that had not existed before. The move was organised on that basis and used to rebuild the environment rather than relocate it: a new network with separate security zones, a central firewall with clear access rules, secure remote access for staff and Wi-Fi that suits the new office. Everyone involved was coordinated so that everything worked on the first day in the new office.
Outcome
The agency completed the move without interrupting operations and now works in a segmented, secured and documented environment. Support has continued ever since.
